SusPoT Joins Global Effort to Redefine Scope 3 Climate Standards

SusPoT is proud to share that Mitavachan Hiremath has been appointed as a member of the GHG Protocol Scope 3 Technical Working Group. In this global role, he will contribute to the critical process of revising and updating the Scope 3 Standard—an essential framework for measuring indirect emissions across value chains. The GHG Protocol serves as the backbone for numerous international climate frameworks, and this appointment highlights SusPoT’s growing engagement in shaping the future of global sustainability standards. SusPoT signed a Strategic Agreement with ITCOT Limited, a premier consultancy organisation backed by All India Financial Institutions, State Corporations, and Commercial Banks. Founded in 1979, ITCOT has been a trusted leader in delivering project, technical, and business consultancy services across sectors.

Partnering with TIIC to Decarbonize Tamil Nadu’s Industries

SusPoT signed an MoU with TIIC (A Government of Tamil Nadu Undertaking) to collaboratively drive sustainability and decarbonization across Tamil Nadu’s industries, with a special focus on MSMEs. This marks a strategic partnership to accelerate the state’s transition to greener, more resilient industrial growth.

Championing Industrial Decarbonization on India’s National Stage

Mitavachan Hiremath was felicitated after delivering the Technical Keynote on “Embedding Sustainability and Decarbonization Strategies in Industries” at the COSIDICI National Award Function 2023. He underscored how shifting market dynamics demand urgent, collective action from Indian industry leaders toward sustainability and decarbonization.

Recipient of the Humboldt Climate Fellowship – Part of a Global Network of Excellence

Mitavachan Hiremath was awarded the prestigious Humboldt Fellowship – International Climate Protection Fellowship for Prospective Leaders by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. As part of the fellowship, he spent 2018–19 as a Guest Scientist at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment & Energy, a leading German think tank, contributing to Indo‑German collaborations in climate policy and sustainability research.

As a Humboldtian, he joins a global network of fellows and alumni from over 140 countries, including 61 Nobel Laureates, who form the Humboldt Family — one of the most distinguished scientific and policy communities in the world. Learn more (Humboldt, Wuppertal)

Shaping Tamil Nadu’s Sustainable MSME Future

SusPoT submitted a Strategy Report on Embedding Sustainability & ESG Practices in MSMEs of Tamil Nadu to senior state leadership, including the Additional Chief Secretary and heads of TIIC, TNGECL and TANGEDCO. Aligned with the state’s $1 trillion economy vision for 2030, the report draws on insights from 200+ MSMEs and charts a roadmap for their sustainable and inclusive growth.

Advising the Global Science-Based Climate Action Movement

SusPoT participates in the Technical Advisory Group of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) contributing to the development of technical project(s). The Technical Advisory Group has an advisory role, and decisions on final technical resources will be made by the Technical Council or the Executive Board of the Science Based Targets initiative. Mitavachan Hiremath served as the Member of Technical Advisory Group of SBTi between 2023-2025. Learn more

Collaborating with TEDA to Power Tamil Nadu’s Net‑Zero Energy Future

MOU with Govt of TamilNadu

SusPoT signed an MoU with TEDA (now part of Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited) to jointly conduct open‑source energy system modelling and planning, and drive Tamil Nadu’s net‑zero transition in the energy sector. The partnership places a special focus on advancing new renewable energy technologies in collaboration with government agencies.

Accelerating India’s Net-Zero Modelling through Open-Source Collaboration

SusPoT joined the IDEEA (Indian Zero Carbon Energy Pathways) consortium as a Knowledge Partner. IDEEA is an open-source energy modelling platform developed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), and Global Change Program – Jadavpur University (GCP-JU). Through this partnership, SusPoT is contributing to the advancement of open-source energy system modelling and supporting the development of a vibrant community of practice focused on India’s net-zero transition. Incubated by India’s First Clean Energy Lab for High-Impact Civil Society Innovation

SusPoT – Center for Sustainability was incubated in 2018 by the Clean Energy Lab, a pioneering initiative by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation and the Indian School of Business (ISB). The Lab supports early-stage civil society organisations (CSOs) with bold, innovative ideas that can drive research‑based, policy‑level impact in India’s clean energy transition.

As one of the first incubatees, SusPoT benefited from a carefully designed support ecosystem — shaped through expert consultations, stakeholder engagement, and a deep understanding of India’s CSO landscape — to accelerate traction, sharpen focus, and scale impact in clean energy policy and systems innovation.
