Dr. Balachandra Patil is a PhD from Indian Institute of Science, is an energy, environment, and sustainability expert, and ranked among top 10 management researchers in India (First in Strategic Management area). He is also ranked among top 2% of the Energy Scientists in the World. He has 35 years of experience as a faculty at the Indian Institute of Science, and as a visiting expert at Harvard University-USA, UNDP-Bangkok, AIT-Bangkok. and IGIDR-Mumbai. His research expertise includes energy & environmental economics and policy, sustainability transition, sustainable energy access, and energy system planning and modelling. He has investigated about 48 research & consultancy assignments for UNDP, European Commission, World Bank, SIDA, SANEI, RCUK, AIT, TERI, IGIDR, DST, and various ministries of government of India and private sector organizations. Has co-authored six books and published about 150 papers in International and National journals, conferences, and edited books with an H-Index of 26. He has supervised 37 PhD scholars (20 awarded and 17 ongoing). Has been conferred with the distinguished alumni award of Manipal University in 2011.

Dr. Thomas Vogt is the Vice Director and Head of Department – Energy Systems Analysis at Institute of Networked Energy Systems, German Aerospace Center (DLR). He is also the cross-topic activity speaker on “Bridging the Granularity Gap” at Helmholtz Association, as part of the program on ‘Energy System Design’. Over the years, he has acquired a commendable experience in various leadership roles at some of the prestigious research institutes in Europe, especially German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Forschungszentrum Jülich. He has a PhD (Dr.rer.nat.) in Physics from the University of Wuppertal / Forschungszentrum Jülich and his doctoral thesis was on “Hydrogen emissions and their impact on Arctic ozone loss – Risk analysis of a global hydrogen economy”. His research interests are in the field of energy system modeling, energy meteorology and technology assessment. Presently, at German Aerospace Center (DLR), his team specializes in conducting the research and development on complex interrelationships of energy systems and designing advanced modeling tools for the analysis and evaluation of future energy technologies.

Prof. J. Srinivasan

Prof. J. Srinivasan is presently a Distinguished Scientist at Divecha Centre for Climate Change and an Honorary Professor at Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He has a Phd from Stanford University, and was a Senior Resident Research Associate at NASA, Langley from 1993 to 1995. He joined the Indian Institute of Science in 1982 and functioned at various leadership positions since then – as a Chairman at Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from 1997 to 2005, Chairman at Mechanical Sciences Division from 2005 to 2009 and Chairman of Divecha Centre for Climate Change from 2009 to 2016.
Prof. J. Srinivasan was a lead author of the 2nd and 4th IPCC reports on Climate change and a review editor of 3rd IPCC report on Climate Change. He was the principal investigator of the Indo-French satellite mission Megha-Tropiques which was launched on 12th October 2011 to study the dynamics of tropical convective systems. He is a Fellow of Indian Meteorological Society, Indian Academy of Engineering, Indian National Science Academy and Indian Academy of Sciences. He has co-authored 8 books and published more than 200 research papers in international and national journals. Over his successful career span of more than 45 years, he has received various prestigious awards, notably the Life Time Achievement Award from Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India in 2012.

Mitavachan Hiremath

Mitavachan Hiremath is the Founder Director of SusPoT – Center for Sustainability. Presently, he is also serving as a Member of Technical Advisory Group at ScienceBasedTargets initiative (SBTi), a high-level international partnership mobilizing the private sector to take the lead on urgent climate action. He has remarkable professional experience in energy, climate change and sustainability domains. Some of the international organizations wherein he worked before founding SusPoT include German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment & Energy, United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC) at Bonn and the University of Oldenburg in Germany. He also gained extensive research experience on climate change and mitigation issues during his early career work assignments at Divecha Centre for Climate Change at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. Over the years, his work in the field of energy and sustainability has been acknowledged by various national and international awards, including Mondialogo Engineering Award from UNESCO & Daimler, Returning Expert Award from German Development Organization-GIZ (2 times), Clean Energy Fellowship from Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation and ISB Hyderabad, and International Climate Protection Fellowship for Prospective Leaders from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and German Federal Environment Ministry (BMU).
Mitavachan has a Master Degree from University of Oldenburg, Germany, and completed his undergrad from National Institute of Technology – Jaipur (MNIT). In his research career so far, Mitavachan has (co)authored 16 publications in international and national journals, conferences, book chapters and technical reports.

Karun Kumar is the Associate Director managing the programme activities in energy vertical, and is also responsible for all youth & community initiatives at SusPoT – Center for Sustainability. Karun has significant experience in the field of sustainable energy, rural revitalization & livelihood, food security and welfare economics. He graduated from University of Oldenburg, Germany with a specialization in Sustainability and Renewable Energy (Master Degree), and also has a PG diploma in Energy Management from University of Hyderabad. He did his undergrad in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. Karun has acquired considerable professional experience across diverse sectors in his career, including Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) & Timbaktu Collective in India, Overspeed GmbH, Fraunhofer Institute of Wind Energy Systems & the University of Oldenburg in Germany, before joining SusPoT. Since then, he has spent considerable time in rural India and has developed a deeper understanding of issues pertaining to sustainable communities, climate change, regenerative agriculture, alternate education, migration and women empowerment.

She completed her Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering with a distinction, and has a Bachelor Degree from Basaveshwar Engineering College, Bagalkot. During her studies, she has acquired considerable research exposure at National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) wherein she also completed her master thesis. She has been working in renewable energy and policy analysis domain for the past couple of years, and has presented her work in various technical events and conferences.
